Privacy policy and external data transmission
This page is an English translation of the Japanese original. If the two versions differ, the Japanese version prevails.
Ryusei Games (games.ryusei.io) is a free game site run by an individual. This page publishes the information sent from your device to outside companies (external transmission), as required by the external transmission rules (Article 27-12) of the Telecommunications Business Act of Japan. It also explains the information handled on this site’s servers and the information stored in your browser.
Information sent to outside companies (external transmission)
Each page of this site includes programs for Google’s advertising (Google AdSense) and analytics (Google Analytics 4). When you open a page, your browser sends information to the following recipients.
| Recipient | Google LLC |
|---|---|
| Information sent | The URL of the page you view (if it is an invitation URL for a game with a friend, this includes the room ID contained in the URL); the URL of the page you viewed just before (referrer); IP address; browser and OS type, language, and screen size; identifiers such as cookies and advertising IDs; and records of ad impressions and clicks |
| Purpose | Showing ads (including ads based on your interests), measuring ad impressions and clicks, and detecting fraudulent clicks |
| How to opt out | In Google’s My Ad Center, you can turn off ads based on your interests (personalized ads). |
| Recipient’s privacy policy | How Google uses information is described on the following pages. |
| Recipient | Google LLC |
|---|---|
| Information sent | The URL of the page you view (if it is an invitation URL for a game with a friend, this includes the room ID) and the page title; referrer; actions on the page (such as scrolling and clicks on links to outside sites); browser and OS type, language, and screen size; IP address (used to estimate your approximate region); and cookie identifiers (those whose names begin with _ga) |
| Purpose | Counting visits and usage (how many times each page was viewed, which sites visitors came from, and which regions and devices the site is viewed from), and using the results to improve the site. |
| How to opt out | You can stop the transmission by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which Google distributes, in your browser. |
| Recipient’s privacy policy | How Google uses information is described on the following pages. |
| Recipient | Third-party vendors (ad networks) that Google has approved to serve ads. Which vendors are used is determined by Google’s systems each time an ad is served, and this site cannot choose them. |
|---|---|
| Information sent | Identifiers such as cookies and web beacons used in serving ads, the URL of the page you view, IP address, and browser type |
| Purpose | Serving ads, measuring ad impressions and clicks, and showing ads based on your interests |
| How to opt out | With WebChoices from the Digital Advertising Alliance, you can stop ads based on your interests from participating companies. |
| Recipient’s privacy policy | Each vendor’s own privacy policy applies. The vendors that Google has approved can be checked on the following page. |
Information handled on this site’s servers
The following information is sent to this site’s servers, which the operator manages. It is not given to outside companies (it is not external transmission).
Games with a friend (game server)
In games with a friend, your browser and the game server communicate over WebSocket. The information sent is the game type, the game settings (the rules for Gomoku and Checkers, and the number of players for Ludo and Chinese Checkers), the moves you make, draw offers in Checkers and their acceptance, resign and rematch actions, the action of starting with empty seats filled by the computer, the room ID, and the seat token (a random value that lets you return to your seat). The number you set in Hit and Blow and your piece setup in Gunjin Shogi are also sent to the server as moves. The server does not send these to your opponent until the game ends (in Gunjin Shogi, it sends only the positions of the pieces, not their types). Names and free-form text are not sent (there is no feature for entering them).
The contents of each room (such as the moves, settings, and seat tokens) are kept in the server’s memory. So that games can continue after the server restarts or stops abnormally, the contents are also written to a file on the server every 30 seconds when they have changed, and always when the server is stopped, and they are read back when the server starts. A room is deleted when 30 minutes have passed since all players disconnected, or when 24 hours have passed since it was created. A deleted room is also removed from the file at the next write (within 30 seconds).
IP addresses (for IPv6, the first 64 bits) are used in memory only to count the connections and the rooms created from the same internet connection against their limits, and are not written to logs or files. The records used for this counting are deleted within 1 hour after the connection ends. The server logs record the game type when a room is created, the numbers of connections and rooms, the types and counts of disconnections and errors, and error messages when processing fails because of a server bug (these may include moves or Hit and Blow numbers).
Game statistics
To fix bugs and improve the games, game statistics are sent to this site’s servers. The information sent is the game type, the mode (vs computer, pass and play on one device, solo, or with a friend), the computer’s level, the game settings, the result, the number of moves, the game length range, whether connections in games with a friend succeeded and the number of reconnections, 3D display failures and the rendering speed range, the types of loading failures, the device type (whether it is a phone, and memory and CPU core ranges), the browser and OS type, and an identifier that is created anew each time you open a page (it is not stored).
Room IDs, seat tokens, moves and board positions, Hit and Blow numbers, GPU model names, and page URLs are not sent. IP addresses are only used in memory to count the number of transmissions against a limit, and are not recorded. Records are deleted after 30 days.
Statistics are not sent when your browser’s Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) setting is on. You can stop them at any time with the switch at the bottom of the home page and each game page.
Access logs
Each time this site’s web server delivers a page or file, it records the IP address, date and time, URL, referrer, and browser type in its access logs. The logs are used to investigate failures and unauthorized access and to count visits. They are split by day, and records older than 10 days are deleted.
Cookies and browser storage
This site stores the following values in your browser. Google’s cookies (such as those whose names begin with _ga) are as described in the external transmission tables above.
| Name | Stored in | Contents | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| theme | localStorage | The selected screen theme (Light, Dark, or System) | Until you clear your browser data |
| games:room-token:<room ID> | localStorage | The seat token for returning to your seat in games with a friend. One is stored for each room. | Deleted when the room is not found and when you leave a room of 3 or more players. Otherwise, it remains until you clear your browser data (rooms are deleted from the server within 24 hours). |
| games:telemetry-off | localStorage | The setting not to send game statistics. Stored only when you turn the switch off. | Until you clear your browser data |
| games:reversi-hints | localStorage | Disc Sandwich: the setting not to show the marks on squares where you can play. Stored only when you turn the marks off. | Deleted when you turn the marks back on. Otherwise, until you clear your browser data |
| games:gunjin-placement | localStorage | Gunjin Shogi: your previous piece setup (the one loaded with the “Last setup” button). Stored when you confirm a setup in a game against the computer or with a friend. Not stored when 2 players play on this device. | Until you clear your browser data |
| NEXT_LOCALE | Cookie (sent only to games.ryusei.io) | The display language (one of ja, en, zh, es, and ko). Stored when you choose a language with the language switcher at the top of the page, and when you open a page in a language different from the stored language (or, if none is stored, your browser’s language setting). Used to send you to the page in this language when you open a URL with no language code in it (such as the home page or an invitation URL). | Until you close your browser |
